Riesling – Biltmore Estate

Our wine tonight is the Riesling from Biltmore Estate Winery in Asheville, North Carolina.

Vintage 2018

Pale yellow in color.

Nose of apricots, honeysuckle, peaches, and fresh pear.

Crisp, semi-sweet with balanced acidity.

Flavor notes of Granny Smith Apples, pears, wildflower honey, lemon, and cantaloupe, finishing with more minerality.

13.5% ABV. (not a typo)

This one is really enjoyable, better than most Rieslings in the under $20 category.

$17 a bottle at Biltmore Estate Winery.

Biltmore Estate winemaker Sharon Fenchak hit it out of the ballpark with this vintage. Biltmore does grow several acres of Riesling on the estate. Though, this wine isn’t produced entirely with Estate grown fruit, sourcing of the fruit is critical to producing high quality wines.

Biltmore Estate Winery is the most visited winery in the United States of America. A wine tasting experience is included with each admission ticket to the Biltmore Estate.
