Our wine tonight is the newly released White Merlot from Victoria Valley Vineyards in the South Carolina mountains.
White Merlot is essentially a rosè, produced by allowing minimal skin contact.
Light strawberry in color.
Nose of pink grapefruit, cranberry, orange, and honey.
Flavor notes of lemon curd, strawberries and cream, raspberries, kiwi, guava, and bananas foster.
$15 a bottle.
Victoria Valley Vineyards is currently the only Winery in South Carolina producing estate grown vinifera wines such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay.
The winery serves lunch on the open air terrace overlooking the mountainside vineyard.
