Nose of blackberry jam, slightly burnt toast, dark roasted coffee, and chocolate covered strawberries.

Medium tannins with a smooth texture.

Off dry on the palate.

Flavor notes of blackberries, red plums, cherries , blueberries, red licorice, charred oak, smoke, and a traditional long spice and peppery finish.

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon – Hindsight

Our wine tonight is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon of Bella Vetta Vineyard in the Howell Mountain AVA from Hindsight Vineyards.

Vintage 2015.

Single vineyard.

Bella Vetta Vineyard, Howell Mountain, Napa Valley.

Howell Mountain is one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious AVA’s.

Vibrant deep purple in color.

Will benefit from decanting.

Nose of blackberry, dark cherry, and cigar box.

Dry on the palate, full bodied with robust tannins but smooth as opposed to bold and chewy.

Flavor notes of black cherry, black currants, blueberry, cocoa, black pepper, tobacco, and leather, with a oaky savory finish.

14.7% ABV.

$90 a bottle.

We’d score this Cab Sauv as a gold medal wine.

It may not be the best Cab Sauv we’ve ever enjoyed, though it’s certainly very good.
