Black Cherry Mead – Lazy Bear Wine

Our wine tonight is the Black Cherry Mead from Lazy Bear Winery in Easley, South Carolina.

Rust in color with a garnet rim.

Still not sparkling.

Nose of honey, cherry and almonds.

Dry on the palate with bitter sweet notes of black cherry and wildflower honey.

Finishes like a traditional mead.

A prime example of melomel mead.

12% ABV

This mead is smooth drinking, would pair well with Mexican food.

This is good. Really good. I would grade as gold medal worthy.

I’m quickly a huge fan of Lazy Bear Winery.

Unfortunately only available at the small production winery and meadery.

These guys use honey and fruit from their own property or either source very locally.

They continue to rack up some impressive competition medals for their products.

We strongly recommend a visit.

Bananas Foster Forever – Artisan Crafted Meadery

Our wine tonight is a mead; Bananas Foster Forever from Artisan Crafted Meadery.

Dark gold to light orange in color.

Still (no carbonation).

Nose is true to a bananas foster, strong banana, syrup, honey, vanilla rum, and coffee aromas.

Flavor notes of bananas, honey, cinnamon, vanilla rum, nutmeg, clove, brown sugar, cappuccino, caramel and a light finish of walnuts.

6% ABV

Back label reads………

It is said that once, long before the Birds and the Bees, there was the Banana and the Bee. The rowdy Banana came from the wrong side of the tracks, so it was instantly a scandalous relationship. Things were hot for a while, practically a flambé. Their love didn’t last long, though, as it was steeped in good times and a heavy dose of a certain Caribbean libation. After the flames settled settled they decided it would be best to stay BFF’s.
