Strawberry Wine – Lazy Bear Winery

Our wine tonight is the award winning Strawberry wine from Lazy Bear Winery in Easley, South Carolina.

Lazy Bear Winery focuses on award winning fruit wines and meads.

Produced from 100% strawberries.

Many of the strawberries are grown on-site and the rest sourced from local South Carolina farms.

Bright salmon in color.

Light nose of strawberry starburst and strawberry twizzlers.

Semi-sweet on the tongue, not overly sweet throughout the tasting.

Flavor notes reminiscent of fresh strawberry shortcake dripping with strawberry syrup, mid-palate lingers with notes of a hot-out-of-the oven strawberry cobbler, finishing similar to a strawberry tart.

12% ABV

This is an excellent representation of a true strawberry fruit wine.

Lazy Bear Winery is a micro-producing family owned winery. They may be small yet they have rack up multiple domestic and international awards!

The Lazy Bear Winery team poising with medals won at the 2019 Palmetto Wine Competition.

Black Cherry Mead – Lazy Bear Wine

Our wine tonight is the Black Cherry Mead from Lazy Bear Winery in Easley, South Carolina.

Rust in color with a garnet rim.

Still not sparkling.

Nose of honey, cherry and almonds.

Dry on the palate with bitter sweet notes of black cherry and wildflower honey.

Finishes like a traditional mead.

A prime example of melomel mead.

12% ABV

This mead is smooth drinking, would pair well with Mexican food.

This is good. Really good. I would grade as gold medal worthy.

I’m quickly a huge fan of Lazy Bear Winery.

Unfortunately only available at the small production winery and meadery.

These guys use honey and fruit from their own property or either source very locally.

They continue to rack up some impressive competition medals for their products.

We strongly recommend a visit.
